Firstlight

The universe is paused while this is open.

This is the free demo. It ends when life begins. The full game — civilisations, their wars, and what happens when they find you — is on iPhone & iPad.

Controls

Drag anything to hold it. Flick to throw it.
Tap empty space to seed a new particle.
The 1× button speeds time up to 2× or 4×.
Press C to open this menu on a keyboard.

The rules of creation

Only what you have touched in the last few seconds can combine. Things drifting on their own just bounce.
Speed matters. Slow touches fuse; hard throws ignite. The km/s readout shows how hard you hit.
Recipes you find are written into the Recipes tab. The Codex hints at what is still missing.

Stars and orbits

Stars pull things in from afar and push them away up close, so a ring of debris forms around each one.
Throw a world at a star to make a solar system. How hard you throw sets the orbit: gentle is scorching, medium lands in the green temperate band, hard is frozen.
Water boils away too close and freezes too far. Life only begins in the green band, and sooner on a world with a moon.

In the full game

Life, left in peace, looks up. Civilisations raise shields, deflect what you throw, fight back, go to war with each other — and eventually come looking for you. That part of Firstlight is on iPhone & iPad.

Black holes

Only one can exist at a time. Starve it of real food and it evaporates, or throw it hard at the edge of the screen to cast it out.

Saving

Your universe, Codex and stats save automatically in this browser.
